Collegiate Beach Volleyball Tour

The Collegiate Beach Volleyball Tour (CBVT) was created to provide year round competition on the beach for college club teams. In the inaugural 2019 season, over 12 different universities competed over five weekends of play.

The CBVT crowned pairs and university champions at Huntington Beach November 2019. UC San Diego Women and UC Santa Barbara Men were the inaugural CBVT University Champions.

In the 2022 tour, the CBVT will expect to have 24 different programs represented in Southern California and 14 represented in Arizona.

Registration

Tour Format and Rules of Play

3 qualifying tournaments, and a championship tournament

Seeding will be based on previous tournament record and finish

New teams will be entered in as a 4-seed

Teams that make it into gold bracket (and top silver teams, depending on size of tournament), will be awarded points based on finish

To be eligible for the championships, both partners must participate in at least 1 qualifying tournament. 

There will be a pairs champion for the men's and women's division.

The CBVT will follow all USA Beach, CBVA, and NCAA rules of play.

Payment

CBVT Membership Option: An individual can register for a CBVT Membership to get a t-shirt and $15 off each tournament they register for. Discount codes for tournaments will be sent via email within 24 hours. This is not automatic so if you do not receive one, please contact Caitlyn Nguyen, caitlyn@sccvl.org. 

Without the membership, registration will be $45/ person. Each participant will register for the tournament individually and state their partner in the form. 

 CBVT is enforcing a strict NO REFUND Policy this year. 

 

Do I have to play in all the tournaments to qualify for the league championships?

No, you do not have to play in all the events.  You must play in at least one of the events throughout the Fall to qualify for the League Championships in November.  However, you will earn more points at each event to help receive a higher seeding going into the league championships.

How many teams can we bring from our university?

You can bring as many teams as you want.  However, if we are limited on the number of courts and time, we will limit 3 pairs per university.

Do I have to play with the same partner every time?

No, you can change your partner every weekend if you want.

Rules and Requirements

 

Must be a non current-varsity level BEACH player, full time student. For this season, we will not allow current indoor or beach volleyball players to participate in the CBVT.  If they are former varsity players, they will be eligible.  

There is no limit to the number of former varsity players per university for this season, unlike our indoor rules of only having 2 former varsity players.

Partners must come from the same college/university.
